I had hiperhidrosis as long back in my childhood as I can remember and had the ETS surgery done when I was 17 years old (I'm 23 now, and nothing else worked). I had a GREAT, GREAT doctor, Dr. David NIELSON, who works at Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, who did the surgery. The surgery is done by cutting a little tiny (less than a cm) under each armpit, then they go in with the little scissors and cut the sweat nerve somehow. I woke up and the first thing I did was feel my DRY hands. I think I remember at the time that it was a fairly new procedure and since it was sort of a "experiement", the surgery was performed free of cost aside from what my insurance paid for. My parents paid no out of pocket cost. The surgery changed my life and I suffer NO side effects. A little sore afterward bc of the fact that it is surgery, but nothing major. My feet still sweat a tiny bit but nothing compared to the misery I used to go through since as long as I can remember, oh and I have a tiny bit of numbness on the back of my right arm, like someone else mentioned, but it is not painful at all. I still sweat normally out of my underarms, and it is controlled by antiperspirant like a normal person. But I used to sweat everywhere ALLLLL the time and the surgery changed my life. I wish I would have known about the surgery before I was 17 though (they do it on young children even!) because those social teen years were tough. I would recommend people who are embarrassed by this to get help. This is just one option for those who can't find anything else that works.
