SBLMNL,

I sorry to hear you are in despair over your situation. I hope you believe me when I tell that I have been there. Seriously. I have. It sounds like you are clinically depressed and suicidal.

Well, I hope you will indulge me in some advice. First, when you are severely depressed, you don't want to make any big decisions. Especially decisions regarding something irreversible like ETS surgery. Your best course of action is to take steps to get yourself better so you can consider the possibility of surgery with a clear and level head.

The first thing I would recommend is to talk to your doctor about maybe trying some antidepression medication. It's not something you want to be on your whole life, but it can help get you out of the deep pit you are in.

As far as excessive sweating goes, make sure you talk with your doctor (not an ETS doctor). Excessive sweating can be caused by many things that can be controlled. Excessive sweating is one of the main symptoms of Hyperthyroidism, for instance. You are already taking hormones for your other condition. Perhaps you should have your doctor check for signs of Hyperthyroidism.

Since you have already have read through this site, I won't bore you with the hundreds of reasons why I think you shouldn't get ETS. But, let's just say that it's best to remember that the grass always seems greener on the other side -- even more so when you are depressed.

Hyperhidrosis on your back, stomach, groin and legs might sound like a great improvement over hyperhidrosis of the head, but it's not. It sucks just as bad and worse. Instead of the customer looking at your sweaty face, he'll be looking at the huge sweat stain on your shirt and on your groin. Believe me, that's no less embarrassing.

Anyway, post back if you have any questions. Leave a message in my inbox if you want to correspond privately. Remember, treat the depression first, then worry about the sweating. If you try to do it in the reverse order, you'll likely regret it.

Take care.
