Hi Skye,
sorry to hear that you have this condition (and glad that you decided against ETS! By the way, lumbar sympathectomy these days is fairly rarely performed, as everybody who has a little bit of brain left, knows that it can/will cause impotence or interfere with fertility. It is also associated with hypotension, meaning that the blood 'pools' into your legs - when you stand up - instead of going up into your brain, so you get dizzy and get fainting spells, etc. )
My first question is if you have had a thorough investigation to find the cause of your sweating. For example in my case I am pretty sure that it was - if not caused - certainly made worse by stress, as my hands immediately became damp as soon as I was i such situ. On my own, relaxed, it never happened. But with your case, I am not sure, especially because it comes and goes. And the fact that you mentioned the odour makes me think that it might be someting else. I would recommend that you go back or find a new physician who is willing to investigate the causes of you condition. There are several blood test that should be done to check if you have an infection, or virus or diabetes or something else. A good Dr should rule these things out first.

I am sure others will respond to your post and will recommend ways to deal with your condition, (sorry, in a hurry..). I think first and foremost you need to find out what might be the cause of your sweating. You have to tell your doc that it comes and goes for example, to explain what you wrote in your post.
Best,
Mia
