Hey,
After reading the news today I came across an article which discussed how marijuana is becoming the choice for many people who suffer from anxiety but have tried many medical prescriptions prior to their resort to marijuana. Maybe possibly relieving anxiety induced HH?

According to Wikipedia Marijuana has been leaked to calming the receptors int he brain and preventing muscle spasms.

I am wondering if anyone here who has ANY TYPE of hyperhidrosis has used marijuana before. Please state what type of hyperhidrosis you have, generalized etc.. and where it occurs, hands, feet etc, and the effects you experienced after using marijuana in relation to your hyperhidosis.

Hey cm, I used marijuana for quite some time consistently for about 3 or 4 years. For me it helped me not to think about the HH cus I would just be under it and forget about things but its the same with alcohol for me too. And actually using it for a long period of time actually seemed to increase my anxiety and paranoia. So now i havn't used marijuana for about 5 months now and its hard to deal with HH head on and my mind is still a bit cloudy, but I think anyone looking to use marijuana to calm down or get away from a problem is going to find that in the long run you can't escape it through drugs. Then again every person reacts differently and for some it could help them temporarily, but when your using it to help one thing it can lead to other problems and you become dependent on it to help you out. I would rather find a non phsycho active substance to help me. My case of HH is what i would call moderate of the hands and feet. Sure marijuana is a great drug that can help ppl out and if someone's case of HH is so severe and they find help through it then i would expect he or she would use it but I would recommend finding something else that's legal. In my own case using marijuana increased my overall anxiety in the long run and when I quit my HH was a bit worse then before and this time I was always thinking about it. So for now I'm trying other things and if I find that nothing else works I still probably won't turn to marijuana to fix my problem because in reality all it's doing it altering your conciousness and shifting your mind away from the reality of the situation. That's just my two cents.

Hey cm,
I like surf have been a long time pot smoker. I see he's quit which is good. I don't believe pot in its true form is that harmful. Yes smoking can cause the same lung problems tobacco can. But in my mind I hate to see it a criminal offense and to lock people up for it. It is way less harmful then alcohol has ever been or will ever be, and we shove that stuff out of every location we can. No one ever smokes a joint and feels like getting into a fight, or loses all control and inhibitions. First time users will always maybe get a little paranoid or whatever, but it is not the crazy drug our government wants to make it seem like.

Having said that my hyperhidrosis started with my underarms and went to my face as well in my late teens and 20's. I have never noticed any sweat reducing effect from using it. At times while smoking it I will even start to sweat from my lip and eyebrows, even after ETS. I like surf began to use it to escape if for just a bit. I cannot justify my usage but its my only vice and I truly like it and I do find relaxation from it. I also read a lot about its uses in our medical word, and I wish our government would be more open minded about it. They want to say its the gateway drug. The gateway drug is cigarettes, they never probably include it in surveys of young kids, atleast not list it as a drug. Believe me it's a drug when it has a bunch of man made chemicals in it, and it produces an altered effect. So Marijuana good or bad probably isn't going to reduce your sweating, and as surf said pot is known to induce anxiety and panic attacks, I believe any psychologist would tell you this. Not sure where the anxiety reducing effect of it you mentioned came from but to my knowledge it is the reverse. But it isn't gonna kill ya, may make you lazy and socially avoident, and hungry but thats about it. I even have glaucoma and it doesn't phase it a bit. So theres my two cents too. So now you got four cents.
