Member Posts: 5 04/30/09 07:51 PM	Tags : None I had the surgery during my junior year or high school. I cannot tell you how much I hated having sweaty hands! I was in percussion in high school and my hand would literally drip on to the marimba or xylophone I was playing on. When I was younger I had someone wipe their hands off after shaking my hand during the sharing of the peace deal at church. That scars a kid! I'm 23 now and the only side effect I've had is minor compensatory sweating, to clarify- now when I get hot (live in south texas so it happens!) my back, stomach and breats tend to sweat. Didn't really happen before. My quality of life has improved 200% since I had the surgery. My feet still sweat but that doesnt bother me too much. It really unnerves me to just now read about malpractice suits against the doctor who performed the surgery. (Dr. Garza in Houston). He told me all the side effects and really of which I got I'd take anyday over having dripping hands again! I guess every person is different and their bodies respond accordingly. My dad is a doctor and he said before our first appointment if there was ANYTHING he didn't like about the Dr. we're not doing it. Needless to say I had the surgery and I lived happily ever after! After reading some other stories I have to say I do tend to get overheated sometimes, I never related it to ETS because of other medications I take can cause that side effect. The meds were started after the surgery so I dont know which actually causes it. I dunno. just a little FYI To everyone out there who has cussed me out, criticized and ridiculed my post- screw u. that's all i have to say. This is a support forum. Nice support I've gotten. I had my surgery in 2001 and things have just gotten worse over time. My whole body sweats now and I live in Texas as well where it's HOT. All this surgery did for me is move the problem from one part of my body to another and made it worse. Not to mention all of the side effects I have now (several of which were never even revealed to me). I wish this forum was around before I had my surgery because after reading the horror stories I never would have gone through with it. Now I am one of the horror stories. My "Doctor" The Texas Chainsaw Massacre known as David H. Nielson has been sued several times and is currently being sued. He also has some pending Medical Board complaints. I would not recommend this surgery to my worst enemy... It's basically giving yourself a permanent Neurological Disorder. I'm am glad to hear the surgery worked out for you. However, you might consider that reason you feel that Dr. Garza was completely forthcoming in disclosing all the side effects is a function of your fortunate outcome. Had you instead experienced numerous, severe side effects (as in the case for a very substantial portion of patients who undergo this surgery), you would likely have a very different opinion of Dr. Garza's claimed forthrightness. I've communicated with somewhere north of 50 Garza patients. All of them experienced a dramatic loss in quality of life and health that they could not have imagined based on the information provided by Dr. Garza. I know both patients who won settlements from Dr. Garza's based on his failure to provide full and honest disclosure. One of them had to move from his hometown of Houston to Seattle because in could no longer function in Houston's climate.

I think you understand that you could have been less lucky, well, like so many of us here. It is true, everyone is different. Patients do need to know more than the fairy tales they have to know all sides. So many patients don't get good informed consent, some sue and that is their right, then doctors get more careful, if for no other reason than not to end up in court....again. If doctors won't put us on testimonials, we just come here. It beats having no voice at all. Even though I was not lucky I hope you never suffer bad side effects, I would say I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but that isn't true....there are some ETS doctors who won't ever suffer or understand or care for the suffering they have created. Patients simply deserve to know the worst case scenarios because we own our bodies and doctors should not take that right away from patients by withholding information in lack of consent, without it there isn't consent. We've had weird people coming here writing about their success stories...strangely enough, it sounds like they are pitching an ad for the doctor they mention. So, sorry if I'm a little skeptical of your posting.

They know that there is a certain percentage of very, very unhappy patients yet they still perform the surgery and just consider it collateral damage or maybe a few ruined lives. I don't see how they can look at themselves in the mirror or even sleep at night doing what they are doing. My ETS "Doctor" told me he still performs the surgery because he feels it has enhanced and improved many lives. It totally fucked mine and he knows it, but hey he gets paid right so why stop??? It's just evil and they will all pay sooner or later one way or another! He even offered up a re-do procedure... Can you believe that shit??? It's just SICK!

I can believe it, because for some people it's all about the money. These ETS doctors need to stop severing people's healthy nerves. They know already that it's not a good solution, yet they still do it.. They'll be the one's suffering in the end, because they probably are surrounded by cheat's and liars, since that is what they are.. It's a dream of mine for these guy's to suffer with the same conditions, but you know damn well they would never have this surgery on themselves.

Joseph darling If a doc said that he can cure a migraine with a blow in the head with a hammer, if he do this with 100 patients: 60 maybe died for the blow, 38 will have more pain in head and more migraine symptoms, and maybe 2 will be free of migraine for ever. And they show this 2 patients as a totally absolut and make articles that this shit works in that 2 patients as if that 2 patients are the totally of patients that was treat But they gain renown for more of what the title said or what medical university study. Most docs accepts NEW PROCEDURES??? Because they only see one side of the coin and they are blind for the renown of the docs thats all, they dont know the true of this. Its like Viagra, at the beginnign it was fantastic, most patients were very very excited and happy but what happen years later, suddenly this patients start to died for heart problems that viagra produce. And about: There is no way in hell a dr would recommend this surgery, Uhmm well my sister also doc recomment to me this surgery, and before looking at internet info about this surgery and looks like minimal invasive surgery, 1% side effects, with medications for 1 year i will have less sweat that my original HH , uhmm well i take this, as i said docs only looks one side of the coin they dont know whats the real thing about this ( its a big bussiness with lot of $$$$$$$ ).
