I banned Sarah00 for posting an obscene avatar. She has apologized and I plan to remove the ban. She wrote me saying she had removed her membership before I
could remove the ban, so I don't know if she will return.
I'm usually not inclined to intervene as an administrator even when threads get heated and flames get passed back and forth, but I want to speak up on a couple of things. To all of our members: If you have something to say to another member, do it on the open forum. Please refrain from sending nasty messages via private email. It's gutless and diminishes our community and reduces our credibility. To our members who suffer as a result of this surgery: Over the years I have found it more productive to point out the demonstrable lack of full/honest disclosure that is commonplace with physicians advocating this surgery than it is to jump down the throat of someone who got lucky and dodged the bullet. A better response is to simply post a link to studies showing that, while some escape severe side effects, the risk of severe side effects is very high. To Sarah: Our concern regarding people using this forum to shill for their surgeon and advertise the surgery is not unfounded. There have been a number of occasions where agents for surgeons have misrepresented themselves here and tried to use our forum to promote the surgery. It was not true in this case, but the paranoia comes from previous experiences. And, whether you like it or not, you posted your happy-go-lucky story on a forum dedicated to giving voice to those who suffer as a result of this surgery. If you want to post messages that won't be scrutinized or critisized, you'll have to create your own website. I'm sure Dr. Garza would happily take your testimonial and phone number and use it to encourage others to have the surgery. Those of us who were deceived and suffer as a result of this surgery don't have that luxury. The doctors don't publish our stories or hand out our telephone numbers. Forums like this one are our only means of communicating our message. Having been deliberately marginalized by members of the medical community, we can get pretty protective of our small space on the internet.

I'm only back to reply. I am not here to solicit ANYTHING. I am not "princess sarah". I came here for support and received none. I won't try
to share my positive story among all of the negative ones. I'm just the same as anyone out there- I sweat, not on my hands anymore but i still sweat. I
pass out when I get too hot- I never accredited that to a side effect because medications I take can also cause the same.

Cesca, you are absolutely cool, and you are very welcome here. I do not think even that it needs to be stated.
There is a huge difference how you talk about ets and issues around it and some who make sweeping statements that is transformed their lives (and then come here apparently for support...am I missing here something???) etc. It is also the quesiton of how, not only what one says. And in some instances there are questionsmarks regarding both. There is no question that there have been schemers who try to groom desperate people from websites, an many have been approached in emails by absolutely unrealistic claims/promises, and luckily recently someon started posting those with the names of the doctors. These people are unscrupulous and will use any means to get their hands on a new patient. And this is a free investment for them, no advertising costs, no need to court the media...Potential victims are plentiful and keen to hear ...what they want to hear from someone in a white coat. It must be true then, right?! There is no question whatsoever about the authenticity of your story and your genuine interest you have taken in ours. I like your calm style. There is a great need for a voice such as yours on tis forum, so hope you will stick around! Mia |

I agree with ugyan. One does not need to be an ETS victim to be here -- but since this is a site for advocacy, as well as a support group for those who have
been burned -- then it behooves members and guests to approach the ETS-topic with tact and consideration. Of course, it is someone's right to voice their
dissenting opinion and glowing testimony but given the nature and purpose of the board these posts are bound to be met with skepticism. That is what the forum
is all about -- open discussion -- and discussion isn't a bad thing if it doesn't get personal. I am sorry that I jumped to conclusions about Sarah and
the authenticity of her story -- but at the same time, I am not interested in hearing any defense of Garza or other such surgeons. Perhaps that was just my
perception, and not the author's intention, but it really, uh, "grinded my gears." Mostly because I remember Claes' words right before he
sliced me: "There are people who are not happy with the surgery, who are trying to stop me, have been making my life difficult" and he said it in
such a way as to make them (us) all sound crazy. I felt so lucky and indebted to him for taking a chance on little ol' me, that I told him right then and
there that I would come to his defense and thanked him perfusely. I was so young and I felt such loyalty to him, and I tried to defend him to others for the
first few years, when life was shitty but the true extent of the ETS effects hadn't yet been revealed. But now, seven years out, I am one of those
"crazy" people that he alluded to -- and I'm not going to defend him or any of the others anymore. I'm not interested in reading those posts
that do, either.
ANYWAY, moral of my story is: Chickpea, we love you. You are welcomed here. I am sincerely glad that things turned out well for you and I hope that you stick around. You have always been courteous and you are an asset to the community. |

Not for anything, but why was Sarah even looking for support from our community? I thought everything was 200% great, or something like that. Do any of you remember when we had Garza's malpractice lawsuits available to see. He had something like 19 pending lawsuits at that time. Wouldn't Sarah's dad have had that information available too? |

just for the record, I was posting on ESFB way back when princess sarah was seriously contemplating ETS for blushing.
she never had the op, lives in England..and now is a happy,beautiful, confident adult. (many of you may remember she was a teen during the horrid ETS wars on ESFB) just as a side note: ESFB is pretty much pro-ets now. many honeymooners, same old arguments about T-levels, informed consent, who is the best Dr..etc etc etc. posting there is now past frustrating, it's pointless |

i had the nerves "burnt" at the t2 ganglion i believe- i have 2 small scars in each of my armpits- 1 for the lap (camera) and 1 for the cauterizing
(sp?) instrument.
I have had the surgery for 8 years and still dont have many side effects. my dad has been in practice for almost 30 years and has been sued 2 times for malpractice (he's an ob/gyn) and in both of the cases he was not the physician who performed the surgery, just an attending. i had no idea about the "news" about dr. garza until i saw a random pop-up which linked to this forum. i wanted to shared the positive side of ets and i was ignorant to the fact that SO many people were suffering now due to irresponsible doctors. 8 years ago, there wasn't any negative press about the doctor. I wouldnt use him NOW. I had been researching this surgery since I was probaly 10 years old and back then the only place or main place it was performed was in sweden- no way we were going to sweden. it "seemed" like a godsend when i learned of a doctor who performed the surgery so close to my home. I made the mistake all of us with hyperhydrosis would have made being in highschool and so much of my social life was crapped out because i was so self conscious about holding hands etc. Its great there is so much information available for people to find regarding ETS. I am sorry for snapping out like i did but I felt insulted and I felt my family was insulted, but i was unaware of a lot until now. and duckie- i dont live in england, im not princess sarah- track my ip again, im just south of houston i say i came for support and not that i felt i needed it really but i would consider this a forum that is true to its name " ETS And Reversals Discussion Forum" I WAS discussing. If it was ETS doctor hate group I wouldnt have posted a positive story seeming like I was rubbing it in or advertising, which were never my intentions.
